Bio

Raffaele Mauro is a Partner in Primo Space, a Venture Capital Fund specialized in deep tech and the space economy. Previously he was Managing Director of Endeavor Italia. He supported high-tech companies in United Ventures, P101 and Intesa Sanpaolo. Mauro has an MPA at Harvard, a PhD at Bocconi, GSP at Singularity University.
He is a member of the Kauffman Society of Fellows and the Friends of Aspen. He serves on various boards of directors, has published in Harvard Business Review-Italy and is the author of the books “Hacking Finance” and “Quantum Computing”.

Giulia De Rossi has recently obtained her Master’s degree in “International Security” and soon after in “Space Policies and Institutions”. Motivated by her passion for working in a field permeated by technological innovation, she has gained work experience at the European Space Agency and is now Space Consultant at Partners4Innovation. In cooperation with EPOKA University and the Economic Society of Albania, she is the author of the first research paper, which analyses the possibility for the Albanian State to develop the Space economy as an additional socio-financial sector.

Abstract

The space economy is prospected to reach the economic value of $1 trillion by 2040. The innovation-driven model that characterises this domain is pushed forward by the start-up environment, which adopts state-of-the-art technology and increases the well-being of society. According to EARSC, 75% of the companies involved in Outer Space activities have difficulties finding adequate and skilled expertise, especially in the programming and development sector. More than 31% of enterprises adopt ML and AI to increase remote sensing capabilities.
