Machine Learning Scientist, Pi School
Marcello Politi holds a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Tor Vergata in Rome, specialising in Artificial Intelligence. He was a fellow at the Pi School of AI in Q2 2022, where he honed his skills in document retrieval and natural language processing. Since 2022, he has been part of the AI team at the Pi School as a machine learning scientist. Passionate about space, he has worked for ESA – European Space Agency. Marcello is an active member of the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) and as an event manager he helped organise Mission Control TTX, the first SGAC hackathon. This event, in collaboration with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, focused on the intersection of cybersecurity and space applications.

Cristiano De Nobili is a Theoretical Physicist with a PhD in Quantum & Statistical Physics at SISSA in Trieste, Italy. With over seven years of experience in Deep Learning, he is currently the Lead AI Scientist at Pi School, working mainly on AI applied to environmental and climate challenges. He is a lecturer in Deep Learning at the Master in High-performance Computing (ICTP/SISSA, Trieste) and in Quantum Machine Learning at Ca’ Foscari College School. His focus has always been on emerging technologies, AI and Quantum tech, with collaborations ranging from European Space Agency to the SIOS Remote Sensing Centre in the Svalbard Islands.
